SATURDAY, JANUARY 26, 2013 – THE GRACE KELLY QUARTET
Grace Kelly returns to Rochester with her stellar quartet that is sure to pick up where they left off at 2011 Jazz Festival. Best known for her talents on alto saxophone, Kelly also plays soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, piano, some clarinet, flute, drums, bass and sings. Although jazz is her first love, she embraces blues, funk, rock and contemporary styles with the music of a wide spectrum of artists within her reach – Paul Desmond, Joshua Redmond, Johnny Hodges, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Brad Meldau and Pat Metheny, Dave Brubeck, Lee Konitz, Phil Woods, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Billy Childs, Steve Wilson and Frank Morgan. Having begun voice lessons in 2008, Grace typically sings during her performances, inspired by Ella, Sarah, Billy, Carmen McRae, Shirley Horn, Dianne Reeves and Ann Hampton Callaway, among others.
