EXODUS TO JAZZ series presents HAROLD DANKO'S EIGHT QUADRENNIAL LEAP YEAR EVENT

Exodus To Jazz proudly presents jazz pianist / composer Harold Danko’s Quadrennial Leap Year event on Friday, February 29, 2008. This event provides both the motivation and opportunity for Danko to present his original music every four years.

Harold Danko’s inaugural Quadrennial Leap Year Event was sponsored by Cobi Narita’s Universal Jazz Coalition with a grant from Meet the Composer and was presented in 1980 at the Jazz Gallery in NYC. It has been presented at legendary New York City jazz clubs including Birdland and the Five Spot before nesting at Rochester’s Little Theatre Café in 2000 and 2004. This year the event is being presented at VENU Resto-Lounge & Nightclub on Friday, February 29, 2008 with two shows (7:00 & 9:00 PM) [ more... ]

With a fascinating polyrhythmic formula, The Gabriel Alegria Sextet opens the Exodus To Jazz 2008 line-up on Saturday, January 19, 2008 with two shows (7:00 PM and 9:00 PM) at Club VENU.

Generating popular responses much like that achieved by Brazilian and Afro-Cuban musicians, Gabriel Alegria’s Afro-Peruvian Sextet represents the latest sound to excite the jazz world. The Sextet’s current tour is sponsored by several entities including the Asociación Internacional Jazz Perú (AIJP), the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) and the Peruvian Ministry of Culture.
